The Tennessee Rose Society strives to share knowledge and interest in our national flower, the Rose. Our monthly meetings feature nationally recognized Rosarians and Master Gardeners, giving advice and instruction to grow beautiful roses in East Tennessee. Each meeting is started with a workshop on “What you should be doing in your garden.” The Tennessee Rose Society is a member of the American Rose Society.
Our meetings are held at 2pm the first Sunday of each month in rooms 156-157 in the UT BioTech Bldg, 2505 E.J. Chapman Dr, 37996, unless otherwise specified.

April Rose Care
- Check your pH (6.0-6.5 is ideal)
- Get a Soil Sample to find out what (if any nutrients are lacking in your soil). Get a kit from Mayo’s
- Prune your roses (this makes your bush want to grow more and improves the health of your roses)
- Apply fertilizer to established bushes
- Begin your spray program (unless you have no spray roses)
- Water if it doesn’t rain 1 inch a week
- Watch out for Aphids (soft bodied insects that look like pieces of thread on the bud). Remove these with a gloved hand or forceful stream of water
- Wait for the magic to happen!
- Take pictures of your roses!
- Enjoy!!
